An empty home is the easiest time to clean properly. Without furniture in the way, the crew reaches the floor along every wall, the inside of every closet and the corners that are hidden the rest of the time. A move clean works through each room top to bottom: light fixtures and vents, walls and switch plates, windowsills and tracks, baseboards and floors.

Planning around closing and the movers

Move cleans fill up at the same times moves do — month ends and the weeks around closing dates. Schedule yours as soon as the moving date is set. Tell the crew whether utilities will be on (they need water and power), how they get in, and whether the home is a single-family house — close to 8 in 10 here are — or a unit with building access rules.

A last check before handing over the keys

Walk through with the crew or right after: open the oven and fridge, check under sinks, look along the baseboards and inside closets. It is easier to fix a missed spot the same day than after the keys are gone.
